A well-balanced diet consisting of whole foods is crucial for managing an illness like HIV. As Acerra states, whole foods provide essential nutrients that optimize immune function. Processed foods should be avoided, and whole, minimally processed foods should be chosen instead.

2. Maintain a Healthy Digestive System

Having a regular and well-functioning digestive system can contribute to overall health. Acerra emphasizes the importance of this as digestive imbalances can hinder the absorption of vital immune nutrients. Foods that promote digestive health include those rich in fiber, such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. Adequate hydration is also crucial for digestive health.

3. Support Liver Detoxification

The liver plays a crucial role in filtering out toxins from the body.
