Governor Oyebamji: Tinubu Not Responsible for Nigeria’s Economic Challenges

Date:

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has recently addressed concerns surrounding Nigeria’s current economic situation, absolving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of any responsibility.

He made this statement during the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship program held at the Lady Jibowu hall in the Government House.  Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the nation’s economic challenges predated President Tinubu’s tenure.

While acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Governor Oyebanji expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to address the current challenges given adequate time and support. He called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the Federal Government, as the issues at hand were deeply rooted and not solely attributable to the current administration.

Governor Oyebanji implored citizens to offer prayers for the President and his government, emphasizing the importance of decision-making in the best interests of the people. He further encouraged Nigerians to maintain peace and decorum, commending President Tinubu for implementing people-oriented programs and policies aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the populace.

Addressing the pressing food crisis, the Governor cautioned that temporary solutions such as palliatives would not provide a lasting remedy. He urged every Nigerian to embrace agricultural practices and contribute to the nation’s growth and development through individual productivity. Governor Oyebanji assured the people of Ekiti State that his administration was implementing various programs to achieve food sufficiency, with the vision of making the state the country’s food basket.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of the Israelites’ journey to the promised land, the Governor expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon experience abundance in all aspects, fulfilling the aspirations of its citizens.

Governor Oyebanji concluded by rallying support for the President, emphasizing the significance of prayers, understanding, and encouragement during these challenging times. He commended the people of Ekiti for their peaceful conduct and assured them that the government would continue to alleviate burdens.

The Governor underscored the need for self-sufficiency in food production, highlighting the President’s recent call for citizens to engage in farming activities.

Prominent attendees at the Evening of Praise included Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji (wife of the Governor and convener of the program), Dr. Habibat Adubiaro (Secretary to the State Government), Engr. Sunday Komolafe (Head of Service), and other high-ranking government officials.
