Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has highlighted the significant role of limestone deposits in the Ewekoro Local Government in positioning the state as the largest contributor to non-oil revenue.

During the 20th coronation anniversary of Oba Abdul-Fatai Akamo, the Olu of Itoriland, Governor Abiodun expressed his appreciation for the remarkable contributions of Itoriland in making Ogun State the foremost generator of non-oil revenue in the country.

Recognizing the importance of the local government, Governor Abiodun emphasized that the abundance of limestone in the region has propelled Ogun State to the top spot in non-oil revenue generation. Out of the total 38 percent of non-oil revenue contributed to the nation’s coffers, Ogun State alone accounts for a remarkable 36 percent, with Itoriland playing a significant role in this success.

Governor Abiodun commended Oba Akamo as a trustworthy and responsive monarch, noting his passion and loyalty. He shared anecdotes from his previous interactions with the Olu of Itori, highlighting the positive impact of the monarch’s support. Furthermore, Governor Abiodun announced the demolition of the old hospital in Itori, with plans to construct a new facility in its place.In response, Oba Akamo expressed his gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his unwavering support to the town and its residents. He reflected on the transformation of Itori from its humble origins to a thriving community, attributing the progress to collective efforts.

The remarkable growth of Ogun State’s non-oil revenue, primarily driven by the abundance of limestone in the Ewekoro Local Government, underscores the region’s economic significance. With Governor Abiodun’s administration taking proactive steps to enhance infrastructure and foster development, the future looks promising for both Ogun State and Itoriland.
