Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared his intention to investigate the administration of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, amidst the ongoing political turmoil in the state.
Mr. Fubara made this announcement on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, as stated in a press release from the governor’s spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi.
Mr. Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, assumes the position previously held by Zachaeus Adangor, an ally of Mr. Wike, who resigned from his post in April after being reassigned to the Ministry of Special Duties.
The oil-rich Rivers State has been embroiled in a prolonged political dispute since last year, triggered by actions by lawmakers loyal to Mr. Wike, who currently serves as the FCT minister, aiming to oust Governor Fubara from office.
