Guinness World Record Holder Achieves Daring Feat with Rope Walk Across Lagos Bridge

Date:

Estonian slackliner and Guinness World Record holder, Jaan Roose, recently undertook a daring feat by walking on a rope across a bridge in Lagos, Nigeria. The project was commissioned by Red Bull and aimed to capture what they called the “Perfect Lagos Selfie”.

Jaan Roose walked on a rope from Sterling Towers in the Marina area of Lagos to the Onome Rig.
The project was a collaboration between Red Bull and the Lagos State Government, with the Lagos Safety Commission involved in ensuring safety during the event.
The purpose of the project was to showcase the beauty of Lagos State and promote the city as a vibrant and energetic destination.
Jaan Roose is an Estonian slackliner and Guinness World Record holder. Slacklining is a sport that involves walking or balancing on a suspended rope or webbing.

Some Nigerians expressed surprise and admiration for Jaan Roose’s daring walk, acknowledging that it was not something they would attempt themselves.
Others questioned why a foreigner was chosen for the project instead of a Nigerian, while some defended the decision, emphasizing the importance of capability and competence over ethnicity or nationality.
