Governor Sanwo-Olu Appoints Pelumi Nubi as Lagos State Tourism Ambassador

Date:

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has selected Pelumi Nubi, a 28-year-old travel content creator, as the official tourism ambassador for the state.

The announcement was made by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, through a tweet on Monday.

In his tweet, Gawat warmly welcomed Pelumi Nubi, using the hashtag #peluminubi_, and revealed the benefits that come with her new role. Governor Sanwo-Olu presented her with a new car, a residence in Lagos, a customized license plate, and an additional surprise. Notably, Nubi has decided to donate the vehicle she used for her remarkable solo journey from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos, Nigeria to the newly established J Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, as a significant gift to Lagos State.

The Nigeria-Benin Republic border served as the reception point for Nubi as she concluded her solo road trip on Sunday. Representing the Lagos State Government were Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture.

It is worth mentioning that Nubi embarked on her extraordinary solo trip in a car on January 30, 2024.
