Kaduna in Crisis: 83 Vanish in Latest Bandit Onslaught

Date:

In a shocking turn of events, Kaduna State in Nigeria has been hit by another devastating bandit attack. This time, the number of missing persons has escalated to a staggering 83, all reportedly kidnapped from Tantatu ward in Kajuru Local Government Area.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar attack barely a week ago, where about 50 people were kidnapped from the same local government. The frequency and intensity of these attacks have left the residents in a state of constant fear and uncertainty.

The Vice Chairman of the Council, Daniel Ayuba, confirmed the incident and expressed his distress over the escalating insecurity in the region. He revealed that the kidnapping issue has been on the rise, including the one that was widely reported in the Buba community.

The bandits reportedly struck around midnight, leaving the community in chaos and despair. Despite the intervention of soldiers, 83 residents remain in the kidnappers’ den.

The bandits are believed to be exploiting the vast, uncovered forest that connects the local government with Birni Gwari in Kaduna-Abuja highway. This geographical advantage has facilitated their repeated attacks and quick escapes, leaving the security forces grappling to keep up.

The local government leadership has been supporting the security personnel in their duty. However, the frequency and scale of these attacks have raised questions about the effectiveness of the current security measures.

The Kaduna State Police Command and the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs have yet to make an official statement concerning the latest kidnapping episode.

As the bandit attacks in Kaduna continue to rise, one can’t help but ask: When will the residents of Kaduna finally find respite from this reign of terror? And more importantly, what measures are being taken to ensure their safety and bring the missing back home?

In the face of this crisis, the people of Kaduna are not just numbers or statistics. They are individuals with families and loved ones who are anxiously awaiting their safe return. As we report on the “83 missing in Kaduna after another bandits’ attack”, we must remember that each number represents a human life, a life currently hanging in the balance.
