Kashimawo, a Spellbinding Tribute to MKO Abiola, Takes the Stage in March!

Lagos is set to witness the staging of a play titled “Kashimawo,” which is based on the life and legacy of late Chief Moshood Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. The play, produced by the Duke of Shomolu Foundation, aims to bring to life Nigeria’s symbol of democracy.

The play, scheduled to be staged in March, will delve into Yoruba mythology and explorer the remarkable life of Chief Moshood Abiola. It aims to highlight his ultimate sacrifice and the birth of democracy in Nigeria. The play is expected to attract prominent members of the Abiola family and other notable Nigerians.

The play will focus on the essence of life and attempt to understand the evolving spirituality surrounding a life destined for greatness.
It will explore the effervescent Yoruba folklores and the entertaining philosophy embedded in Abiola’s rich repertoire of proverbs, which guided his life.

Written and directed by Prof. Rasaki Ojo, a renowned theatre director and Ekiti State’s Commissioner for Arts and Culture, the play will introduce mythical characters that influenced Abiola’s personality.
