The Nigerian Army’s Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has successfully dismantled an illegal weapon manufacturing factory in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. This operation was carried out based on actionable intelligence, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a significant number of automatic weapons.

The operation was a result of a meticulously executed intelligence-led operation conducted by the troops of OPSH.
The illegal weapon factory was involved in the production and distribution of firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons, which were being sold to customers in different parts of the country.
The recovered items include 6 AK-47 rifles, 4 submachine guns, 11 AK rifle bodies, a pistol, and 7 AK-47 bridge blocks.
Additionally, 4 AK-47 rifle magazines, 210 recoil springs for AK-47 rifles, 7 rifle butts, 8 rifle muzzles, 9 piston assemblies, and 5 cartridge housings were seized.
The troops also recovered one drilling machine set and a hand filling machine.
Two individuals directly involved in the weapon proliferation and marketing process, Michael Dung (33 years old) and Yusuf Pam (43 years old), were apprehended.

The discovery and dismantling of the illegal weapon factory will disrupt the activities of criminal elements and contribute to the overall security and stability of Plateau State and the entire nation.
The recovered cache of firearms and related equipment will help in curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons, which has been identified as a key trigger for the crisis in Plateau and Southern Kaduna.
The arrests send a clear message that illegal arms production and trafficking will not be tolerated, and those involved will be held accountable for their actions.
The collaboration between the military and the public is crucial in maintaining peace and security in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
