Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared his intention to investigate the administration of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, amidst the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

Mr. Fubara made this announcement on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, as stated in a press release from the governor’s spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi.

Mr. Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, assumes the position previously held by Zachaeus Adangor, an ally of Mr. Wike, who resigned from his post in April after being reassigned to the Ministry of Special Duties.

The oil-rich Rivers State has been embroiled in a prolonged political dispute since last year, triggered by actions by lawmakers loyal to Mr. Wike, who currently serves as the FCT minister, aiming to oust Governor Fubara from office.

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed plans to establish a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the governance affairs of the state prior to his tenure. This announcement came during the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Dagogo Israel Iboroma, SAN, as the new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the State.

Governor Fubara emphasized the critical nature of the appointment, highlighting the need for bravery and courage in addressing the legal challenges facing the state. He expressed confidence in Mr. Iboroma’s ability to handle these matters effectively.

Additionally, Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to resolving the ongoing political crisis within the state. Despite efforts to reconcile differences, he acknowledged the lack of progress and emphasized the need to move forward in the interest of the people of Rivers State.

The Governor also criticized the actions of a former Attorney-General, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor, accusing him of sabotaging the administration while serving in his capacity. He underscored the importance of integrity and professionalism in public service, affirming his administration’s dedication to upholding the interests of the people.

In conclusion, Governor Fubara affirmed his belief in divine elevation and dismissed notions suggesting that his leadership was a mistake. He emphasized the importance of accountability and integrity in governance, signaling a firm stance on ensuring transparency and accountability in Rivers State.
